All odds were against me - I should have failed

- I had never sold anything before
- I had no sales training
- I was half the age of the people I sold to
I should have failed
Actually: most of my colleagues did.
Let me take you back to my first days as a seller.
I came as a young man to the capital of Sweden, Stockholm. I guess I had not quite understood what was going on at my work - I thought I signed up to be a consultant - but realized my job was cold calling customers who never had heard of our company, offering them sales training (which was low on their list things to buy as it can get)
So I cold called, got rejected, made appointments in ways you can’t imagine
And
To my surprise
Sold
Sales trainings
Without sales skills
And
Experience
Questions is How on earth did I make it?
I will have to thank my Uncle Carl.
He was a great storyteller - he taught me the value of a good story and how to tell it.
I became a storyteller.
I picked up a habit: ask a lot of questions learn fast
Use the information to tell stories about how we help customers succeed.
My key to success was storytelling!
I used metaphors, stories from other people - what I could find.
And it kept me going.
I made 330 sales calls the first 6 months.
330 stories later I was voted as the rookie of the year.
Still do storytelling.
Still a recipe for success
What is yours?
Here are a few ways to learn the POWER of MEDDICC
